Magistrates Recusal For Civil Ceremonies is Law

On Tuesday, I asked you to take a moment to contact your state representative and urge him to vote to override Governor Pat McCrory's veto of a bill that would allow magistrates and register of deeds to opt-out of the performance of same-sex marriages, if it violates their faith.

Thanks to your actions, and those of our friends at Christian Action League, the House have joined the Senate in overriding the governor's veto of SB 2 – Magistrates Recusal for Civil Ceremonies.

I am delighted to report that the N.C. House voted by the required 3/5 majority vote necessary, 69-41. The bill now becomes law.

When good citizens like you get involved, good things can happen. This is a great example of just how government is supposed to work. The voters speak and the elected officials listen.

I am grateful that you cared enough to help protect religious liberties in North Carolina. Together, and with God's help, we are making a difference!
