SAMPLE LETTER/PHONE SCRIPT

Dear Henderson County Commissioners,

Thank you for having the ICE agent come to the Wednesday, April 17th Commissioner Meeting. After listening to Sheriff Griffin’s claims, it is vital that the citizens of our county hear how 287g has served our county well for ten years, why it continues to be a vital tool in our arsenal to keep us safe, and the ramifications of its termination.

Though the sheriff has sole authority to renew or terminate 287g, the Commissioners’ influence on the sheriff’s decisions cannot be underestimated.  The Memorandum of Agreement between the sheriff and ICE reinforces that it would be foolish to terminate 287g.

Therefore, I am also appealing to you to publicly support 287g with a Resolution.

Thank you for your service to our community.  I look forward to seeing you on April 17th
